Better the devil you know... As the saying goes. And it is true. But you also need courage, both in life and at work. Jumping over obstacles with your heart in your mouth. Even if the obstacle seems insurmountable. The story we are about to tell is one of courage and the roads we take with just a touch of foolhardiness. So with courage - and taking many risks - Arturo Poli left a managerial position in a large industrial company and founded his own firm. At the time, his competitors observed him with diffidence, almost auguring his failure. Yet things would turn out very differently. Thirty years ago, in the early days of Gruppo Sirio, the work was non-stop, day and night, and the hard work led to extraordinary results over time. We are in Modena and today 120 people work for the company that has a global turnover of around 10 million euro and an export share of approximately 10%. Sirio deals with integrated security systems for companies based on innovative and highly customised technologies. “Our company DNA is uncompromising quality, expressed by our people, the services we provide and the systems we develop. The surveillance services are characterised by speed of organisation, preparation of human resources and top-level technological equipment. The security systems are appreciated for their excellent performance and reliability using state-of-the-art equipment and components, even in highly complex situations. Instead, our fire-fighting services fully comply with regulations and are provided by highly specialised technicians,’ says Fabio Poli, Chairman and CEO of Gruppo Sirio.

Integration in the sign of AI. Integrated solutions mean combining technological systems with monitoring services provided by highly qualified operators. Gruppo Sirio's speciality is protection systems for large perimeters such as industrial plants, airports, and logistics hubs. They offer this service using cameras with video analysis, radars and lidars. “These devices allow the operators at our Security Operations Centre to effectively and rapidly detect intrusions, identifying environmental variables and minimising unwanted events. AI-based algorithms have made great strides in recent years,” says Poli. Technologies and people. The surveillance services unit has more than 100 employees, divided between armed and fiduciary services. They have all undergone intensive training in asset protection and the powers that the law grants. This training is periodically updated and verified as required by sector regulations. The security systems unit has more than 30 engineers and industrial experts involved in the design, installation and maintenance of security systems. They receive continuous training from the manufacturers of the equipment and software used. The aim: to obtain the certifications required to work with maximum effectiveness and efficiency. As regards fire-fighting, besides specific technical training, operators must also be trained on the increasingly frequent updates to fire prevention laws. Roots and ambitions. Because what comes through in this story of outstanding entrepreneurship is the strong bond with the territory. Modena and Emilia are the roots of this company: most of the customers in the wide range of sectors served are based here. Most of the employees were born here and studied at local schools and universities. “The field we operate in, i.e. security and safety, will become increasingly competitive, the regulations governing it will become even more stringent and the needs expressed by the market will become more complex and challenging. Technology will increasingly dominate. We will do our part to keep abreast and grow the group with new acquisitions and perhaps even with new start-ups,” Poli concludes. Keeping a careful eye on technology, but people remain the beating heart.
