In the heart of Emilia, specifically in Castelvetro, there is a young company that is making significant improvements in the textile and perfume industries. After all, if beauty is going to save the world, Lussur has a good chance of playing a leading role. For FARE INSIEME, Giampaolo Colletti interviewed Ernesto Gamberini, founder of Lussur.

Masterpieces are made of details. These details can have a diameter of only four millimetres. Keep this number in mind. The success of the enterprise I am about to describe is also dependent upon those four linked to special beads. I'm referring to an accessory so small yet essential related to clothing closures, including everyday wear as well as high fashion. Nowadays, resin pearls (such as those seen on fashion show outfits) are always attached to a garment with the use of a nail or stitch. However, both solutions have drawbacks. If the thread breaks with the stitching, all the beads fall off. Here comes an explanation from Emilia - along with an Austrian partner. In the textile field, these beads are applied using hi-tech machinery that utilises laser pointers with a tolerance of 0.3 millimetres. Thus, the machine is capable of “stitching” with an imperceptible fine steel wire that replaces the classic sewing. Previously, this excellent steel wire did not exist on the market, making these products unique on the market. This material, imperceptible to the touch and offering exceptional resistance, overcomes the technical and aesthetic limitations associated with previous technologies. But take heed. Technology is not the only factor at play, but also the competence of the expert who oversees the operation and monitors performance. It is a perfect balance between the human factor - almost artisanal - and the technological component.
Company profile. As we began with the what, now I will reveal the who. This is the story of Lussur, a company that specialises in the application of pearls and fine gems to clothing, but also glassworks customising garments with precious stones. We are located in Castelvetro, a town of eleven thousand people in the Modena area. It is one of the seven municipalities of the Terre dei Castelli. Leading the company is Lucas Chemelli, a twenty-five-year-old graduate from Barozzi in Modena and enrolled at the University of Marketing and Business Organisation. Lucas has a natural aptitude for creating. “My interest has always been more focused on the productive aspect of my job rather than exhibiting. Developing innovative products in such a complex market presents significant challenges. At present, we have a nice production line for rhinestones and sequins, three processing machines, a press department, and a storage area for perfumes and raw materials.” This is what states Lucas Chemelli, CEO of Lussur. Startupper and globetrotter: his passion was born while exploring some textile factories in Austria and Switzerland. “As a result of my international experience, I have had the opportunity to meet partners of excellence, experts in the use of cutting-edge machinery and in the selection of high-quality raw materials. Therefore, I decided to found our company in Italy, where tradition and modernity blend in a unique manner”, explains Chemelli. This is a story about a returning talent. Both his parents, who are entrepreneurs, owned a company in a different industry. However, he decided to take the risk. After all, some people choose the path of their hearts, not necessarily the most comfortable one. There are currently five people working in the company who are responsible for the Italian, French, and American markets. Italy is the country of choice when it comes to perfume and glass. Our goal is to establish contact with major fashion brands and third-party manufacturers in the industry, to provide samples that can be transformed into productions for the current year's collections. “I am convinced that beauty will save the world. Since Italy is full of innovative thinkers and doers, I became passionate about the supply chain”, states Chemelli.
Ideas between past and future. In order to fix rhinestones and sequins, Lussur utilises an automated machine that operates in coils, by means of a sophisticated mechanism. This technology allows the creation of high-impact designs and the management of eight different types of rhinestones and four types of sequins simultaneously. But there is more. This relates to his region.“We have developed a line of high-quality perfumes, even made with balsamic vinegar. The birth of this fragrance originated from an intuition rooted in the history of Castelvetro. It all started with a drop. Not just any drop, but a centenary drop, a keeper of time which matured over time within premium barrels. This essence is transformed into a fragrance capable of evoking deep emotions. It was not the smell of vinegar that inspired us, but rather its most hidden side, its most refined soul. We extracted its most intriguing part, which over time has become precious, enveloping, and unique. “We developed an olfactory pyramid that does not adhere to common rules, but dances on unexpected notes, enhancing its depth and elegance without revealing its origin”, explains Chemelli. The breath of its homeland imposes itself, creating a perfect harmony between tradition and modernity. The luxury of a bygone era becomes contemporary. And even more. It is a tribute to Castelvetro and its ability to transform time into pure beauty. The strength of an organisation that strives for excellence is its ability to preserve the past while rethinking the future. What a wonderful insight!
