In
the Bologna area there is a company committed to providing services to other
companies and professionals in the field of health and safety protection in the
workplace. Regulations are certainly at the centre of focus, but these are
preceded by consultancy linked to human capital, which always makes the
difference. Giampaolo Colletti interviews Michele Scalorbi, Chairman of Fargo,
for FARE INSIEME

“I believe
that the only sure things in this world are coincidences.” So said Leonardo
Sciascia. The story we are about to tell starts precisely from coincidences,
which after all are perhaps never random and must be interpreted. The story of
Michele Scalorbi starts from a fortuitous encounter, which, over time, we
understand will change his life. Michele was born in Bologna and over the years
became an expert working in companies in the fire prevention sector. Michele
deals with workplace safety and system maintenance. He prevents potential
critical situations. The meeting that occurred in 2007 marked a "life
change" and gave rise to the birth of his company. It all started from a
discussion in a trade association. Fargo was born from there. The name is
pirate-like, almost poetic. Because Fargo is what was written on the crates
transported by pirate ships. In Scandinavian culture fargo could derive from
the word farulfr, which means travelling wolf. And all this could indicate a
connection with exploration or travel.
Company
profile. It is a facility management company specialised in the supply,
installation and maintenance of fire prevention devices and systems, electrical
and safety systems, lifelines and assessment and management of the health risk
of Legionella. Fargo operates throughout the country, including the islands.
The headquarters is in Villanova di Castenaso, a hamlet inhabited by just over
two thousand souls in the metropolitan city of Bologna, almost five kilometres
away from the Two Towers. But there is also an operational headquarters in
Cittadella, in the Padua area. The staff is made up of 24 employees for a
turnover of 3 million euros with an increase of +20% compared to the previous
year. «It all starts from the idea of providing consultancy on health
protection and safety in the workplace. In those years, the need for
entrepreneurs in our area to have a service company at their side capable of
managing, in addition to all the issues relating to health and safety at work,
also the technical requirements and all non-core services increased. Today we
have become a service company whose objective is to relieve, within our
competence, the entrepreneur from the management of the technical services
necessary for the life of the company», states Michele Scalorbi, chairman of
Fargo. Thus, the company turns to other companies, professionals, merchants,
condominiums and their administrators. The technical services are structured to
comply with regulations. «We work for the well-being and protection of the
community, we want to build safe workplaces and therefore every regulation and
every possible improvement is a source of ideas for development for us. Our
mission is to be a technical reference for our customers that they can rely on
for their business needs relating to health and safety in the workplace and
beyond», specifies Scalorbi.
Regulations
and people. Putting yourself in the customer's shoes, interpreting the
challenges involved in doing business. For the Fargo team, it is precisely the
regulatory developments that require constant training and precise updating.
But we're not just talking about processes. Human capital is at the centre of
our focus. «Companies are made up of people who spend most of their time at
work. This is why we believe that it is essential to invest in our staff and
for this reason we aim for professional and personal growth, well-being and the
diffusion of the company culture. We want our staff to feel an integral part of
the company, we want them to come to work with a smile. So every day we strive
to make all this possible», says Scalorbi. Then there is the strength of the
network. Because only by working as a team we can face the new challenges of
doing business. «We think that
territorial identity is important. We are a Bolognese company well rooted in
the territory. We care a lot about our culture and our roots and we believe it
is important to network and strengthen ties with associations, customers and
partners in our area. This allows us to guarantee growth for our business, our
staff, our partners and above all our territory, which has always been the
heart of the main companies», concludes Scalorbi. This is the strength of the
community: people and businesses who create value together.
