Seventy
years ago a company was founded in the Bologna area, which became a point of
reference for innovation within the operating room. Today it is a distributor
on the Italian market of electro-medical tools and equipment from very
important and primary brands. And a company that always looks to the future.

“As long as
you have passions you will never stop discovering the world.” Cesare Pavese
supported this assertion in the first half of the last century. Now, the story
I'm about to tell you talks about irrepressible passions. Those that make our
hearts beat. Those that don't go off so easily. Those that bring people
together and make a difference over time. We are in Bologna, a land animated by
many passions. A land that in the 1950s - and therefore in the post-war period
- had a sense of redemption, of desire to do things. Silvio Franco Zaccanti's
company was born right under the Two Towers in Bologna. It all started in 1954
from a passion for medicine. Frankly, Zaccanti didn't even have a degree in
medicine. So he wasn't a doctor, but he became a reference for doctors. A
passionate entrepreneur. Or even more, a visionary individual. In the second
generation, Carlo Zaccanti, a precursor of mini-invasiveness, took over: he was
the creator of that first technology, which is still an excellence today. Carlo
Zaccanti was considered crazy. Just think that at the time we were only talking
about mini-invasiveness from a scientific point of view. However, as a
visionary, he was able to anticipate the times and bring that technology to
Italy. At the time, imagine that he entered the operating room and trained
doctors on that hi-tech equipment that arrived from Germany. The idea of the
first hospital for the creation of stem cells was born with him. It originated
in San Marino. Carlo Zaccanti was supposed to participate in the inauguration
in 2007. But then tragedy struck with his sudden death. Everything stopped all
of a sudden. To then start again.
Company
profile. The company Zaccanti has been a distributor on the Italian market of
electro-medical tools and equipment from very important and primary brands for
seventy years. The headquarters is in Bologna, with a second operational
headquarters in Milan. The company is growing by double digits. 2023 marked a
+22%, compared to the previous year. «We do our work with passion, striving
every day to achieve the best. We provide custom-designed solutions, crafted
from the surgeon's needs. We are committed to listening to the needs of each
customer to fully understand their requirements: only by observing their way of
working and managing the space are we able to satisfy even the most complex
requests. Our goal is to create a synergy that does not end with the sale, but
which begins with the purchase of the equipment. We are always alongside
doctors and hospital facilities, to check the state of use of the machinery and
update end users on the most cutting-edge techniques.» This is what Salvatore
Bocchetti, CEO of Zaccanti, says. Forty-eight years old, with a degree in
economics from the University of Bologna in his pocket, today at the helm of
this company that markets electro-medical equipment. A pocket multinational, as
this manager defines it. In this way, a small and strategic market niche, such
as surgery, is covered. «We represent an important brand in the world of
minimally invasive surgery, comparable to Ferrari. Taking up Carlo's legacy was
difficult and demanding. Over the last fifteen years under my management the
company has acquired highly specialised figures and has consolidated and
expanded collaborations with leading companies in the reference sector,
continuing its research into new technologies. We have also become a reference
for national private healthcare, we believe and invest in cultural, scientific
dissemination and training projects», says Bocchetti.
Distinctive
features. Innovation is inviting. In short, it is part of this story. It runs
through it, anticipates it, marks it indelibly. Over the years the journey has
stopped at all the most significant stages of surgery, from the open surgery to
the minimally invasive one of which Zaccanti was a pioneer. In 1992 the second generation entered the
company and brought to Italy the minimally invasive surgery tools that Northern
Europe was already producing. Then in 2007 the first full HD room in Europe was
created at the Gozzadini Institute in Bologna, still in use and named after
Carlo Zaccanti, who passed away a few days after its inauguration. «From then
to today, the safety and well-being of the patient and operators have always
been our focus, inspiring the realisation of our works, for which we have
obtained recognition from the various users who continue to turn to us and from
academic circles, who also use our installations for educational purposes. Our
goal is to improve the quality of life of patients and we pursue this by
offering only cutting-edge equipment», specifies Bocchetti. Looking to tomorrow
with determination, competence, passion.
