Starting from a video, telling and touching. This is what a young team from Modena did when setting up Pongofilms. This business is a production house with over ten years of experience dealing with the creation of company and commercial multimedia products, documentaries and live streaming. For FARE INSIEME, Giampaolo Colletti interviews Marco Brandoli, Gabriele Veronesi and Luca Bedini

Passionate, skilled, tireless. And, especially, connected. Because there is a generation born in the mid-1980s that has become confident with technologies and the web and that has rewritten - actually, it is still rewriting - digital services for companies. In this case, we find ourselves in Modena where, fifteen years ago, a group of young people reunited around a communal project. A web tv and many other things stemmed from it. We are referring to Marco Brandoli, born in Modena in 1985, Gabriele Veronesi, born in Carpi in 1985 and Luca Bedini, born in Sassuolo in 1981. They met in 2007, while the company - Pongofilms - was set up in 2012, and now counts on a team of five collaborators and a range of figures that are involved depending on the project. A core team that also involves a series of professionals including directors of photography, screenwriters, editors and sound designers. The best works come from their mix of skills. “We started as a group of freelancers who shared a passion for video-making, which we decided would be our job. We had already worked together on various projects and we decided to set up a video production company, also winning a prize as the best start-up in Modena. The cost of technology has diminished drastically today and you can even buy a drone for a few thousand Euros. So technology has become the least important aspect. It is instead the knowledge concerning its various uses that makes the difference,” says Luca Bedini.

In the name of the digital world. Pongofilms is now a production house with over ten years of experience dealing with the creation of company and commercial multimedia products, documentaries and live streaming. It deals with all the production phases of a video: from the idea to writing, the scouting for locations and filming down to editing and the most complex post-production phases. “The digital world and the web are at the basis of the development of our sector, simply because video communication currently occupies the leading position when it comes to social media. This is even more true since we developed the entire streaming sector which has exploded over the past three years also due to the pandemic. But the first thing is banal just as it is essential: we make good videos. It is definitely important to be humble, but we are aware that those who see our works and our portfolio cannot but agree. We consider it our key element because you do not go to a restaurant where you do not eat well,” says Marco Brandoli. But the company goes beyond video production. So, today, those good guys with a passion for the first digital cameras and pioneering streaming systems also specialized in narrating machinery and connected factories with automation dynamics. Therefore, Pongofilms also deals with the entire 4.0 world. The headquarters are in Modena and clients come from different worlds, a sign of cross-sector recognition: they range from a workshop that restore vintage Ferraris to giants such as Bper and Coop Alleanza 3.0.  This is the strength of Pongofilms, their trump card available to all kinds of companies, i.e. their being versatile. Because the team can now deal with all kinds of requests.

The strength of a video. Telling stories but, most of all, touching people. Videos are a tool that must cause a reaction. “Technologies in our sector are increasingly within the grasp of everyone in our sector. Just think about the explosion of the drone sector, which used to be almost science fiction a mere ten years ago whereas today it only takes a few thousand Euros to be competitive even with Hollywood productions. That is why ideas and knowledge make the difference,” explains Gabriele Veronesi. A success story was Modula, a leading vertical warehouse company. Pongofilms video narrations were shot all over Europe and became one of the most useful tools on a commercial level. Production is always the most delicate phase as that is when things occur in front of the camera and time is tight especially in certain situations. That is why pre-production, i.e. the conception, preparation and organizational phase is essential. We always start from an idea and a subject, repeat the three as a mantra. In this case too, as in many other projects, using your head before acting makes the difference.
