In Ferrara, we find the headquarters of a company that deals with recycling and that now sells all over the world, from America to Japan. The machines are an expression of Italian-made quality and include shredders, grinders, pulverizers, separators and accessories capable of guaranteeing a recovery of over 99% of raw materials. For FARE INSIEME, Giampaolo Colletti interviewed Elisabetta Blo, Managing Director at MG Recycling

Mater artium necessitas is a Latin
proverb known all over the world that can be translated literally as: Necessity
is the Mother of Invention. Or, even better: Necessity sharpens our wits. There
we have it, the story we are about to tell you has a lot to do with wits, which
entails ingenious intuition, unmeasured perseverance and endless resilience.
Even though a company can be quite small, it can boast ingenious solutions,
with the ability to innovate the market and with the strength to look far
ahead. Necessity sharpens our wits, as I said earlier. This is what happened to
a rather small Emilian company with great ambitions. A company that is about to
celebrate its 30th anniversary while maintaining its pioneering spirit and
fostering innovation. A company that has introduced new elements into the
organization, production and recruitment over time. Have I peaked your
interest? Before revealing the name, I will tell you the where and when.
Because the company was set up in 1995 in Finale Emilia and over time - in 2007
to be precise - it moved to Bondeno, a town of 13,000 inhabitants in the
westernmost tip of the Ferrara province on the banks of the Panaro River. There
are three buildings here today: one given over to offices and production, one
to small carpentry and the other to a warehouse. MG Recycling is currently
based in Bondeno, a leading company on the international market when it comes
to the design and manufacturing of plants for the recovery of copper, aluminium
and other valuable materials from sorted waste. Everything started as a family
business. The artisan experience combined with the constant strive for
innovation enabled it to quickly become a point of reference for the recycling
machine sector. But let’s proceed in an orderly fashion and take a step back.
Indeed, more than one.
Company profile. Everything started
with the idea of the founder Guido Blo, who set up a business dealing with the
design and production of general mechanics for third parties in Finale Emilia.
One thing led to another. Blo decided to develop his first prototype, i.e. the
first compact machine available on the market: the MG 150 model is still
available, although it has of course been improved thanks to many years of
experience. The machine was presented at the Ecomondo fair in Rimini in 2008
and led to unprecedented growth. The company’s commercial development is
managed by his daughter Elisabetta who, over the years, developed a global
network so that 90% of the turnover is now linked to foreign orders, mainly
from Europe as well as from America, Australia and Japan. Sales and patents.
“Our choice was also to work with local artisans so as to contribute to the
growth of the local territory and pay more attention to products that, albeit
industrial, still have an artisanal soul. When it comes to choosing the best
machines to recover copper from electric wires, it is important to consider the
different qualities that can affect performance and efficiency. Machines with a
higher processing ability and speed can help improve the copper recovery
process,” explains Elisabetta Blo, head of MG Recycling. Her best memory is
that linked with the building of the new headquarters in Bondeno.
Evolution of the company. “Over the years, we have introduced new ideas, technologies and
applications to improve our products and are constantly looking for innovative
methods,” stresses Elisabetta Blo. The patents filed over the years are fruit
of constant investments in research and development. After all, they represent
our pillar of growth and the will to always keep up with market requests. And
the machines are an expression of Italian-made quality and include shredders,
grinders, pulverizers, separators and accessories capable of guaranteeing that
over 99% of raw materials is recovered with 8-hour production cycles and an
impeccable design, assistance and maintenance service. Human and technological
capital go hand in hand, turning a small Emilian business into a large international
reality.
