The company was
established in Finale Emilia, in the Modena area. They look at the rest of the
world from a land that faced even the most difficult phase of the earthquake,
ten years ago, with courage and dedication. A young team, with an average age

They define
themselves as tailors of automatic machines. «Each time we sew a tailor-made
suit for the customer, looking for the best solutions based on three pillars:
professionalism, organisation, and flexibility.» This is the way in which
Viviano Pisa, founder and sole shareholder of Dna, describes his team. We are
located in Finale Emilia, a town of fifteen thousand souls in the province of
Modena, the easternmost municipality of the province and one of those most
affected by the 2012 earthquake that was described all over world for the
damage it caused, but also for the proud and tireless spirit with which the
locals faced it. «Finale Emilia was the first epicentre of the earthquake. We had
to rebuild a part of the building, secure it, but we never stopped. That
difficult phase was also a spur to roll up our sleeves and to grow. At the
time, the team was made up of 15 people and over the years it has grown
tenfold, giving work to the community», points out Pisa. By true, the history of
his company is closely linked to difficult times, but this 46-year-old
entrepreneur, a trained mechanical expert, who worked for sixteen years in a
mechanical workshop before embarking on the entrepreneurial path that also led
him to a specialisation in marketing, has proven in the field how difficult it
is to do business. But the key is to always try to give your best. A matter of
tenacity. But also of audacity. Thus, in his ten years of entrepreneurial life,
Viviano Pisa and his team have faced the earthquake, the euro crisis, the
pandemic and now the war. «One critical issue after another, but one thing was
clear to me from the start: I would certainly have stopped and given up if I
had been on my own, but with the team there is always a solution available», says
Pisa.
Doing business is creating community. Hence, the
team. Made of young, motivated, and competent individuals. Who are fond of the
company and of the land where it was born. One hundred and eighty employees
with an average age of thirty years old, committed to running 7 companies for a
turnover of 17 million euros, with 20% destined for research and development.
It is a service company that in 2022 will also come out with three of its own
products and which already works today for large international players. «Our
strength is our flexibility: the winning key is to always present yourself with
a strong dose of adaptability. To overcome the challenges of an increasingly
complex market, problems must be solved promptly. All those who make services
must think in this way, but we must do it even more», says Pisa. Be fast, but
maintaining a very high quality. In Dna they assemble automatic machines and
sometimes they produce every single piece, exactly with that tailored cut that
is the distinctive feature of the company, as we said before. But there is
another element that makes the difference. And it is the land. Viviano Pisa was
born in Finale Emilia, he lives and works here. And also his team looks at the
whole world, it travels the world, grinds kilometres, projects, ideas, but
finds its strength from this land, from its people. «Finale is far and at the
same time close to Bologna, Ferrara, Modena. And it still has those values of
the past that once characterised the whole nation. The will of wanting to do
and to work. The desire to be a community. My land is like my favourite
football team»,
says Pisa. Which was the moment of greatest satisfaction?
The strength of the product. Dna provides assembly, maintenance,
installation and start-up services for automatic machines with a particular
attention to the packaging sector. It creates tailor-made solutions for
customers: these are turnkey mechanical projects or supplied on account made
with qualified personnel and latest generation machinery. You need attention to
detail, a maniacal obsession for perfection, teamwork and a lot of talent. On
the other hand, the process of assembling mechanical parts for automatic
machines is a complex and very delicate activity. It is not a spur of the
moment: it requires great experience and knowledge of the raw material.
Mechanical assembly takes place in the Finale Emilia headquarters, with the
team of technicians divided into electrical and mechanical departments. Or at
the customers' premises, bringing technology and knowledge on the spot. For
this Emilian entrepreneur, the most relevant challenge is the sale of a product
that is totally DNA-made. «You face the challenges step by step, but you must
have ambition, and courage. You have to throw your heart over the obstacle. In
2020 with the pandemic we would never have thought of reaching the end of the
year, and instead we managed to reach the same numbers we had obtained in 2019»,
concludes Pisa. Always believe, never give up. Because basically everything is
possible: where there is a will, there is a way.
