In Campogalliano, in the
Modena area, there is a world-class excellence engaged in testing, training and
certification. A reality at the service of other industries. Then there is the
training soul with the Academy, a school linked to materials, testing, quality,
processes, design and management. Giampaolo Colletti interviews Marco Moscatti,
CEO of TEC Eurolab for FARE INSIEME

“To make a dream come true, a person must
overcome many tests.” Louisa May Alcott, one of the most famous American
writers who lived in the mid-nineteenth century and was author of that
tetralogy of children's books known as "Little Women", repeated it
like a mantra. But what if we translated that evidence to the business world?
Ultimately, to do your best, you need to continually do trials. Literally put
yourself to the test. And in the Emilian land, made up of stories of
innovation, there is a company that for thirty years has dedicated itself to
precisely this: trying and trying again. And ultimately to allow other
companies to make a difference. A coach at the service of the various
industrial sectors: manufacturing, automotive, aerospace, energy, biomedical,
food and even cultural heritage. Welcome to TEC Eurolab, a company that was
born as a material analysis laboratory at the service of the manufacturing
industry, which over time has become the main European laboratory for
tomography, a diagnostic imaging technique that allows the examination of
different parts. In fact, industrial computerised tomography is a control
method that allows you to obtain a three-dimensional virtual image of the
component analysed: thus, you can see all the possible defects and the internal
and external geometries of a finished product. A scan that makes the
difference.
Company
history. But let's proceed in order and take a step
back, returning to those iconic nineties that link our collective imagination
to so many things. Well, in that period in Emilia there were those who tried to
do something different, and succeeded. TEC Eurolab was born from the
inspiration of Paolo Moscatti, a graduate of the legendary Enrico Fermi
Institute in Modena and passionate about chemistry. Then followed his studies
in agriculture and the meeting with his partner, Alberto Montagnani, who had a
background in metallurgy. The company was born from this mix. «In fact,
father Paolo and Alberto combined their skills and made the difference», says Marco
Moscatti, CEO of TEC Eurolab and Chairman of the Young Entrepreneurs
Group of Confindustria Emilia. It is he - a young man born in 1988, with a
scientific high school diploma and a degree in engineering - who today leads
the company as the second generation in the management of this Emilian jewel
linked to tests and certifications that was born in 1990. Visionary objective: to analyse those materials linked to local
businesses. «We were
lucky enough to be in Emilia, a land with an industrial vocation and with
numerous supply chains of excellence. We
have worked since the beginning to ensure that the companies' materials, products and processes were compliant», specifies
Moscatti. Testing, training and certification. Today the company is a
third-party laboratory for testing materials: independent, impartial and
accredited. A centre of excellence for laboratory tests and non-destructive
checks that is able to support every manufacturing company in researching and
achieving the highest standards of quality and safety of their products and
processes. The company offers support for every type of firm to obtain and
verify the maximum performance of products and processes. «With over
thirty years of experience we have become a multidisciplinary centre of
excellence for material analysis, non-destructive testing, training and
certification. We assist companies in obtaining and verifying the maximum
performance of products and processes, with absolute safety and quality», says
Moscatti. An expression of that Made in Italy that
knows how to do it at its best, aiming for excellence. Thus, the company has
associated the tests with the innovative technologies that are taking place:
today the laboratory is the only one in Italy and one of the few in Europe
capable of completely testing the additive manufacturing process, starting from
the choice of the powders, to the analysis of the powders up to the
defectological control of the finished part. The company has over 2,500
customers all over the world, around eighty employees with an average age of no
more than 33 years old and a turnover of around 10 million euros. Being able to
carry out tests in Italy that were previously carried out in other countries is
an advantage. This means significantly shortening testing and delivery times to
the customer and allows us to support industries in the development of their
product, putting them in a position to quickly have the outcome of the
prototypes they develop», specifies
Moscatti.
Human and technological
capital. People and technologies, each connected to the
other in a winning mix. In fact, thanks to the skills of its human capital and
investments in equipment, the centre assists the industry in the most complete
way. Thus, the company is at the service of anyone who uses materials and
technologies to build products, prototypes and components. In Campogalliano, in
the Modena area, there is the internal workshop and there are also three
factories for over five thousand square metres of testing. Then there is the
soul linked to training. The Academy, led by Luca Moscatti, is tailor-made for
companies and professionals who aspire to improve their performance: a school
linked to materials, testing, quality, processes, design and management.
Meanwhile we look to the future. «We have acquired
shares in a company specialised in artificial intelligence and we have been exploring
this area since 2019, long before the boom of recent months», concludes Moscatti. Looking to
tomorrow, almost ahead of the times. This is how true pioneers make the
difference.
