A reality that combines technology and human expertise was born under the Two Towers in 1982. A company that has been supplying automatic and remote-controlled gates, doors and doorways for over thirty-five years, the only official FAAC partner recognised for Bologna and its province. Giampaolo Colletti interviews Osvaldo Rosa, Chairman of Sorce e Vannini for FARE INSIEME

In the hyper-connected world in which we are all wrapped up - and often also overwhelmed - how important is the closeness of a company to its customers? A lot, a real lot. A closeness that is not only virtual, i.e., to be maintained in a digital relationship on online platforms. Not at all. That closeness - ultimately meaning care, attention, listening - that is also physical. A proximity that becomes an emblem of quality. This is the story of Sorce e Vannini, a company that has been supplying automatic and remote-controlled gates, doors and doorways for over thirty-five years, the only official FAAC partner recognised for Bologna and its province. High technology and professional competence at the service. What a great combination. The company experienced a change of management last year. Today Osvaldo Rosa, a long career in the insurance world and head of Assigeco, one of the primary insurance brokers in Italy, is the new and sole owner.

Company profile. Being there, for real. So to tell you the story, let's start from the where and then move on to the what. We are in via del vetraio 11 in Bologna. Sorce e Vannini has 39 employers working for more than 16,000 customers in recent years and a turnover of just under 5 million euros. The market is that of high-tech automation of access for both private and corporate buildings, but Sorce e Vannini sells gate automation, garage doors, access systems for company personnel and for parking lots and even video surveillance. It all started way back in 1982. At the time, Luciano Vannini and Giuseppe Sorce shared with FAAC the happy intuition of designing and installing automatic systems to close gates. The first systems were mainly hydraulic and then evolved into more modern and advanced electromechanical systems based on worm screws. The most satisfying period was that between 1986 and the following thirty years. The company is known as the exclusive dealer of FAAC for the province of Bologna. The most difficult moment was the one immediately after, in which we had to deal with new competitors. «Yet our company enjoys high recognition and an undisputed reputation. In recent times we have been strongly committed to strengthening our distinctiveness: an even more consolidated partnership with FAAC and a broad and solid specialisation in the entire range of access automation systems with a team of qualified employee technicians and a particular attention to safety issues both in maintenance and installation operations and in the certification of the systems», says Rosa. The team is mainly made up of specialised technicians, although some qualified craftsmen are still employed. The technicians' specialisation is not only focused on access automation systems, but also includes the presence of construction and blacksmith skills necessary to carry out assistance, ordinary maintenance and installation of new systems. At the headquarters, the activity is based on a modern customer service that takes charge of all requests from the customers. And then there is the warehouse equipped with every spare part and every system to be installed.

Digital transformation. The range of products in the catalogue has been significantly expanded over the years: in addition to traditional gate and garage door automation, systems have been developed for the automation of industrial doors, automation for pedestrian doors, automatic doors, access control systems, bollards, turnstiles, and parking lots. «To provide our customers with a complementary proposal to that of access automation, in recent years we have also developed an offer of alarm and video surveillance systems», recalls Rosa. There is a lot of technology at stake. A new feature is the “simply connect” that allows access programming through a simple use of personal devices in place of traditional remote controls and a remote monitoring of the operation of the systems that will allow us to manage predictive maintenance capable of anticipating harmful events that cause malfunctions and blockages. «A big step forwards for us and especially for our customers, in particular for companies and condominiums. The transition is from a family-run artisan reality of excellence to a modern and efficient company focused on automation in its various declinations», concludes Rosa. Thus, the classic gate automations have been joined by the most advanced access control systems and video surveillance systems. And today we talk about solutions designed to meet specific needs. An overall vision: this is the winning key for the companies of the future.
