“Bologna is a formula that you tried to teach me about, I’ll never forget it” is part of the lyrics of a masterpiece by Luca Carboni. The title already says it all. An open title - “Bologna è una regola” (Bologna is a rule). Everyone can interpret it as they please. Because Bologna rules for the way it makes you feel, for the stimuli it offers, for the new opportunities - the new lives - it helps develop and they intertwine. There, the story we are about to tell you illustrates precisely the story of this city as a saviour. Because, in the city of the Two Towers, you can restart, be reborn, rethink your way of being and doing business.
Company profile. Sixteen years ago, a night train from Salerno represented for Luca Avagliano the start of a radical change. One suitcase, countless questions and the conviction that, in order to build something new, the courage to start again was needed first. Destination: Bologna.“This is where I breathed in new air. I often say that this place is Heaven and we don’t realise it.” Once in the city, Luca started from scratch, looking for a journey that combined professional growth and human impact. The turning point? A course as coordinator of health and social services. That journey led him to work in care facilities, among operators and guests, where he found his calling and acquired the tools to turn it into a project. One step at a time, he built a solid professional identity made of empathy, listening and vision. The aim was to contribute change from the outside, putting technology at the service of those who take care of other people day after day. People and technologies are strictly integrated: the mission is to supply IT products that streamline and improve the organisation and efficiency of facilities on all levels, guaranteeing optimal services that cater to all guests based on different actual needs. We find ourselves in the Roveri district, the Bologna industrial estate open to the whole world. “We offer targeted solutions for care, residential and rehabilitation facilities. Thanks to the knowledge I acquired during the course in Health Risk Manager at the LUISS Business School, over the past few years we have started expanding in the health segment, developing tools dedicated to risk management in the health sector by optimising processes,” explains Avagliano.
Among technology and people. Everything started a few months before the pandemic forced us to stop everything. Margotta Medical was in fact set up in December 2019 based on the experience of Margotta Group, a business consultancy company active since 1977. Over the years, the company developed specific competences in the health sector creating and autonomous and highly-skilled department dedicated to software design. Today, it constitutes a point of reference for health and social care facilities that want to renew their management processes. Luca Avagliano is now the founding partner and sole administrator. During the pandemic, I led the company through a phase of transformation by introducing new business models that enabled us to widen our offer and meet emerging market needs. Thanks to his commitment in the entrepreneurial and association world, he was elected vice-president of the Young Entrepreneurs Group of Confindustria Emilia Area Centro. In 2024, he became part of Confindustria’s National Central Council of Young Entrepreneurs, while Federmanager recognised him as one of the best young managers in the North-East of Italy, among the best 40 in Italy. Health among technology and people, from evolved systems to a valued relationship. The company offers personnel training through specific programmes, both online and in person. The objective is to guarantee ongoing professional growth. But it also provides consultancy services for risk management in healthcare facilities with innovative tools that facilitate the identification and prevention of critical factors. “We stand out due to our customised approach and we develop solutions that adapt to the specific needs of each facility, thereby improving operational efficiency and the quality of the services offered. We continue to invest in R&D to improve our technological offer and strengthen our role on the healthcare market. The objective is to support healthcare facilities in their journey towards digitisation, making the everyday management of services safer and more efficient,” says Avagliano.
