Progea, a company from Modena with 30 years’ experience in the supervision software sector, has acquired a €3 million project in the US. The first contacts were made in Italy when two Greif facilities located in the Milan area researched SCADA platform producers and identified Progea as a suitable supplier thanks to the flexibility of its product and of the Pro.Lean module in particular. They needed in fact to automate the systems and data collection, in particular to feed a local database and create a personalized OEE solution. The application was developed directly by Progea and installed with excellent results in these first two facilities.
Greif’s headquarters in the US heard of the success of these projects and immediately got in touch with Progea for the development of a global project for the real-time monitoring of production flow and to calculate the OEE through KPI indicators. The project would have involved the production lines and systems of facilities all over the world, i.e. around 115 systems in over 35 countries. In some of them, Greif had already employed solutions to monitor OEE and KPI, therefore one of the main objectives was definitely not only to improve what system they had, but also to install the application in a short time (roughly one year) to enable all operators to effectively monitor production efficiency indicators. The data collected and reports obtained are analysed by production managers first. Each facility transmits the reports to the area manager and, finally, data from the facilities all over the world are uploaded to a cloud platform so that the US headquarters located in Delaware, Ohio, can analyse the data directly.
Greif has chosen Progea thanks to the openness, modularity and flexibility of its solutions.
