Poggi gets greener thanks to a new photovoltaic plant

15/04/2020

Poggi Trasmissioni Meccaniche continues its path towards environmental sustainability and green solutions. The Bologna company, which specialises in the design and manufacture of high-tech transmission elements, has just installed a photovoltaic plant with a capacity of 394.52 kWp. This project was strongly supported by the company, which teamed up with SIAT between November and March for all phases - from the feasibility study to the technical implementation.

The system, which is connected to a network and installed on the company's roof, is made up of 1409 280W modules and it can produce 459.853 kWh/year according to SIAT estimates. This will enable Poggi Trasmissioni Meccaniche S.p.a. to save a significant amount of energy and therefore to allocate more resources to research in transmission elements.  The company has in fact always designed state-of-the-art solutions that can strongly innovate the sector. Examples of this are P-drive®, a range of pulleys and low-noise high-performing synchronous belts, and the P-gear® concept, a speed transmission system with contactless meshing, with applications in the sector of right angle gearboxes and reducers: not a simple product, but a revolutionary evolved solution that can reduce energy consumption, noise and vibration.

“We are very proud of the project, as investing in the photovoltaic field reflects our radical commitment towards sustainability and our responsibility towards the environment that will continue to characterise us in the coming years through strategic choices and decisions made to maximise the use of renewable energy and resources,” comments company president Andrea Poggi.
