Automobili Lamborghini presents three models at the Auto Shanghai 2021 that bring the passion and sporting DNA of the Italian super sports car brand into the spotlight.
The Essenza SCV12 hypercar, of which only 40 samples have been produced, will be on display at the Lamborghini stand and will be unveiled together with the Huracán STO, a track car approved for road use on its debut in China. In addition to these two models, visitors to the Asia-Pacific region will also have the opportunity to admire the Huracán Fluo Capsule, the latest collection of vibrant colours intended for the super sports cars with a V10 engine. With the Super SUV Urus the product range has been completed, in order to emphasise the importance of the brand presence at the Auto Shanghai 2021.
“Automobili Lamborghini ended 2020 with the highest level of profitability ever achieved and the second highest value in its history in terms of turnover and sales, despite the fact that the factory was closed for about two months due to the Covid-19 global pandemic. This growth also continued in 2021: the forecasts at the beginning of the year are very positive and the number of deliveries is the highest ever recorded in the first three months. The orders placed so far already cover nine months of production”, said in video link the president and CEO Stephan Winkelmann, who returned at the helm of Lamborghini after five years. “I am proud and honoured to be back at the helm of Lamborghini, particularly at this pivotal moment in the company's history. We are working hard and preparing Lamborghini for a new era. Lamborghini will become an even stronger brand, both here in China and in the rest of the world, thanks to the new development plans that will be announced shortly.”
Commenting on the brand's predictions on the Chinese market, Winkelmann added: “There are extremely positive developments in the Chinese market. I am very happy to confirm that all the production for the Chinese market covering 2021 has already been planned. With the increase in production volumes, we expect the Chinese market to rise to second place in terms of sales, remaining one of the most important markets for Lamborghini on a global scale.”
Even Francesco Scardaoni, regional director of of the Asia-Pacific branch of Automobili Lamborghini, has very positive expectations: "In China we are reaching a very diverse group of customers, with an older average age than the world audience; we also have more family-conscious customers and more female customers. We will continue to expand our dealer network in other cities in order to provide a better service to the Chinese customers across the country. This year, despite constant uncertainties, Lamborghini will continue to offer exclusive events to customers and to fans of the brand, focusing, in particular, on the commercial launch of the Essenza SCV12 and the Huracán STO. As a manufacturer of authentic super sports cars, we also expect motorsports to play an even more important role for Lamborghini in China thanks to the introduction of the new GT Super Sprint Challenge. In China, Lamborghini looks to the future with confidence and will present an unparalleled product portfolio with cutting-edge design and technology. The three important models previewed at the Auto Shanghai 2021 underline our confidence in China and our concrete commitment towards our Chinese customers.”
